First Look at Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood (Trailer)

From the Huffington Post:

The first trailer for Ridley Scott’s “Robin Hood” has been released and it looks to be a classic Scott epic filled with lots of gritty violence. Starring Russell Crowe, who Scott worked with in his previous film “Gladiator,” as the legendary archer and Cate Blanchett as Maid Marian, the film is scheduled to be released May 14, 2010.

  1. I took a look at the trailer and just wasn’t that enthused. Maybe I’m finally getting to the point where “yet another remake” doesn’t do it for me anymore. I’ve no doubt it will be a good movie, though. Hard to beat a Scott/Crowe pairing.

Of course, I say I’m getting tired of remakes… yet I can’t wait for the new Clash of the Titans! One of my all-time favorite movies when I was a kid. I just hope it’s good.

  2. hmmm…I am not all that uninspired.

  3. I thought it looked okay. It seems there are more large scale battles in this one, which is a bit odd to see Robin Hood leading armies in pitched battles. I’m not sure that picture of him fits with the legend of an outlaw.

Scott, I agree about remakes. They’re becoming very tiring. I want to see some fresh ideas. But since it’s Robin Hood and medieval, I’ll probably go see it regardless.

  4. Robin Hood is just one of those classic stories. It’ll be remade over and over (it already has) for each generation. It’s a never-ending cycle for some tales.

  5. Very interesting trailer. This certainly will not be an Errol-esque version. Lots of action, and it looks like they won’t shy away from showing death. I’ll show it to my daughter and get her take, since she has researched the old Robin Hood ballads to the “T”.

  6. Robert, I’d be interested to know what your daughter thinks. I remember you saying she was really into the Robin Hood lore.
